Public Education
Publicly learning how to read and write again
That Old Time Internet
Public Education will be a blog in the original sense. Reading this publication will not necessarily make you any more qualified to opine on a particular topic, unless that topic is “what is this author thinking about”.
The first real writings will be a three part series about public education. I’m a high school science teacher, and will be publicly working out my role in this system and my current read on the institution and teenagers of this corner of America. The name of this blog, Public Education, is a description of what I’m doing here. I’ll be standing out on a limb and making a public record of my thinking, and hopefully sharpening it over time. I may cite things, but I want this to be far away from academia.
After my thoughts about schooling, I’ll be adding my addition to the pile of articles about why and how the internet sucks these days. Thinking about how the internet sucks was really the first impetus for starting this publication, in an attempt to slow down the way I interact with the web and learn to read and write again.
